High Time

By Michael Penn

Things to note:

  • I did this with a capo on 3.
  • This one's driven in part by a 2-bar riff-type deal... it's basically just alternating between a D and a D without the middle finger on the 2nd fret of the high e string. The latter of those two chords (I think... I'm bad with chord names when they're not plain ones...) is a DmDim... it looks like this (I'll call it D2 for shorthand purposes):

So this chord is part of this overall riff:

  • As usual, my convention with writing out chords is that if you see something like this:
    G D D D
... each note gets one beat of the measure... if you see two notes on one line, each gets two beats of the measure. However, when I have chords WITH text, just use the words as a guide for how long to play the note. Hope that's not too confusing.
